Hey James,
Sorry to be so incredibly slow with this reply. The period over the New Year was impossibly busy, so I'm only just finding my feet.
I'm very pleased that you enjoyed the Deathwatch novels and yes there will be another one ... but it won't hit the shelves until next year I'm afraid. Sorry!
In the mean time, have a great 2008!
Cheers,
Cassern

Hi Cassern,
Very nice website. I followed one of the threads on a BL forum which lead me back here and must say you handled yourself very nicely it that exchange. Between the DOW games and your books I find myself as a middle age man spending way to much time in the world of 40k while thinking about these Blood Ravens constantly. Anyway your books have grown and your writing has definately evolved with your novels. It is so enjoyable to see a new window into the 40kverse. So keep up the great job. I am so looking forward to finding out where your story with Gabriel goes.

Hi Ken,
Very sorry indeed to be so slow replying to your mail. The New Year period was crazy for me, and I'm only just catching up on things. I suppose that "Happy New Year!" is in order!
Many thanks for your note and for your kind words. I'm delighted that you're enjoying the books, and pleased to hear that the Blood Ravens have earned a regular place in your day ... I know that they play havoc with mine!
Take care, and best wishes for 2008,

dear CS goto
i'd just like to say great books i like the deathwatch serise the most i think you write SM the best they seem to have some humanity left in them which i like. and eldar prophecy was a refeshing change to the many many many many many many many book about imperium. i did not read dawn of war because i did not like the game but i think i might try the Omnibus when it comes out.
i love the artwork on the front cover on your books so who does the art work on the your books? and do you have any say in what goes on the cover or is that for BL to do?
i think the only one i didn't like was eldar prophecy just a bit plain
anyway cheer and em coming lol.

Hi Katie,
So sorry that it's taken me so long to reply. I've been running around like crazy over the New Year period, and things are only just beginning to settle down.
Anyway, thanks for your note, and for your nice comments. I'm very happy that you like the books, and especially that you like the human Space Marines ... they're rather controversial, as you may be aware. And as for Eldar Prophecy -- that's one of my favourites too.
Most of my artwork is done by Phil Sibbering (Warrior Brood, Warrior Coven, and Tempest), who is absolutely fantastic. You're right, I get some input, but he's so great that it's best to just let him get on with it. I also think that Neil Roberts (Ascension) is great.
Anyway, take care, and I hope you enjoy the omnibus.
Cheers,

Hey
One thing and please this isnt meant to sound horrible but while trying to read to my son, i tried reading some of the DOW books, but the ammount of comma's the first few pages is beserk. They are great stories though.
Also, the death watch books are some of the best BL books ive read in a long time,
Thankyou.

Hi Cor,
Thanks for taking the trouble to write. Yes, I know that I use a lot of commas, although I didn't realise that they caused problems!! Thanks for pointing this out, and I'll try to keep tabs on them in future. In general, my editor seems to like my punctuation, so I'll prod her into action too!
Glad you enjoyed the DW books.
Cheers for now, and best wishes to your son,
Cassern

Mr. Goto:
I recently read your book "Warrior Brood." Being a fan of the Tyranids I could not resist when I read the back cover. I must say I was very pleased with it. I finished it in three days, finding it almost impossible to put down. Your writing, while slightly repetitious (it comes with the genre in which you write I'm afraid, so no fault to you), is amazingly captivating. I purchased your most recent book, "Warrior Coven," this evening and am anxious to begin.
I would be doing you a disservice by not telling you what I found so captivating about your story. First, and pardon me if this seems morbid, but I thoroughly enjoyed the fact that not all the Deathwatch Marines made it out; no literature can be great without some tragedy. Second, I enjoyed your combination of several stories within the book. This allowed enough of a break to keep things interesting without being convoluted. Finally, your writing is intellectually stimulating as opposed to being “dumbed-down” to a sophomoric level. Your word choice is praiseworthy.
Bravo to you sir. I am looking forward to your third installment, regardless of whether you opt for the Tau or the Necrons, as both these races fascinate me. Thank you for a great book.

Hi WC,
Great to hear from you, and it makes me very happy to see that you appreciate my writing, especially since you seem to have pinpointed some of the things that I was deliberately trying to accomplish: the alternation of story elements is something that I like to play with, since (like you, it seems) I think it fuels the story and keeps us all interested in each element of the narrative. It also gives me chance to switch point of view, sometimes retelling the same scenes from alternative perspectives.
Anyway, I'm gratefyul for your note, and I hope that my next books will live up to your praise!
